Sgt. Nance said believed this was the first bomb threat in Bevelry Hills since Monday's events at the Boston Marathon.

BHPD, like the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the Los Angeles Police Department, is on heightened alert. It is encouraging residents to report all suspicious behavior immediately to 911.

A number of "suspicious packages" and anonymous threats have kept police and firefighters busy, with perhaps the biggest incident Thursday at California State University, Los Angeles.
