BHPD Team Raises Money for Special Olympics

Seven officers from the department participate in the Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run.

To raise money for the Special Olympics, seven Beverly Hills Police Department officers laced up their sneakers and hit the pavement for the 2010 Southern California Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The BHPD team ran the Special Olympics torch—known as the Flame of Hope—through Beverly Hills earlier this month, joining more than 3,500 officers who carried the torch 1,500 miles through 300 communities.

The torch was handed off to the BHPD team from West Hollywood sheriff's deputies at Sunset Boulevard and Sierra Drive. The Beverly Hills officers ran with the torch west on Sunset, south on Beverly Drive and west on Olympic Boulevard, eventually handing it off to a team from the LAPD's West Los Angeles Division.
