BH Firefighter Injured During Mansion Blaze

The home had been sold in September by "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast member Lisa Vanderpump.

A Beverly Hills firefighter was injured Friday fighting a blaze that burned for about an hour in a 12,000-square-foot mansion in the gated Beverly Park community.

The fire was reported at 6:30 p.m. at 50 Beverly Park Way, just south of Mulholland Drive, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Though the fire took place in the Beverly Hills Post Office area—a part of Los Angeles with the 90210 ZIP—the assisted in efforts to put out the flames at the $19 million home, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Arriving firefighters reported moderate smoke coming from the roof of the French chateau-style mansion, Scott said, but by 7 p.m. the fire was beginning to burn through the roof and additional firefighters were requested.

By 7:30 p.m., there were more than 100 firefighters battling the flames, Scott said. The injured Beverly Hills firefighter was taken to a hospital and is in serious but stable condition, the Times reported.

"A beam fell on his head," Scott said. "He is undergoing tests."

KCAL9 reported the house was sold in September by Lisa Vanderpump, a cast member of the Bravo documentary series Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Fire officials said it was a tough fight and the fire caused extensive damage inside.

"Driving up here is difficult to access and that house is the size of a supermarket," Los Angeles Fire Department Deputy Chief Mario Rueda told KCAL9.

The fire may have been sparked during construction work, Rueda said.

"They had workers working and it appears it may have been accidental as a result of some decking that they were doing," Rueda told KCAL9.
