Bail Set in Wednesday's Alleged Homicide

The victim and suspect have been identified by police.

Bail has been set at $1 million for the man arrested in connection with a Beverly Hills homicide Wednesday.

James Grzeslo, 54, was arrested on suspicion of homicide after Beverly Hills police discovered the body of Cathy Carrasco-Zanini in a home on the 100 block of North Hamilton Drive at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday. The 58-year-old victim was found by officers who were at the residence. 

A preliminary investigation revealed that Carrasco-Zanini likely knew the suspect. Grzeslo was soon detained at a nearby office building.

"They did know each other," Lt. Lincoln Hoshino told Patch. Because the case is part of an ongoing investigation, he was unable to elaborate on how the victim and suspect were acquainted. The cause of Carrasco-Zanini's death is also being withheld.

Grzeslo was booked Wednesday into the Beverly Hills Jail. No other outstanding suspects are being sought.

"The public is safe at this time," Hoshino said. "We do have the suspect we believe committed the crime in custody."

This is the first reported slaying in Beverly Hills since the of publicist on Nov. 16, 2010.
