UPDATE: Police Officer Involved in Burton Way Accident
Burton Way from Doheny Drive to La Peer Drive in Beverly Hills closes for accident investigation involving a Beverly Hills police officer. He sustained moderate injuries.
Beverly Hills police reported a traffic accident occurred around 11:13 a.m. Wednesday on eastbound Burton Way and La Peer Dr. involving one of its own officers.
The officer sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Eastbound Burton Way was closed from Doheny Drive to La Peer Drive and La Peer Drive was closed both northbound and southbound from Burton Way. Motorists were told to avoid the area if at all possible. The roads were closed for approximately three hours.
Multiple Tweets from @BHScanner initially reported the accident involved a BHPD motorcycle officer and another vehicle. Beverly Hills police confirmed the involvement later Wednesday afternoon, stating the officer was conducting traffic enforcement. The accident investigation is ongoing.
