Commentary submitted by Beverly Hills resident Alice Torre.
On Sunday evening after a wonderful dinner at Il Pastaio with my daughter, I witnessed a driving incident just outside of the restaurant.
The manager of Il Pastaio was escorting an elderly woman to her car near the corner of the intersection of Canon Drive and Brighton Way. As the woman was getting into the passenger side of the car a man in a SUV turned the corner behind her and began to beep his horn constantly while screaming to the driver in front of him to pull forward.
It would have been very easy for him to pull around the car and be on his way. Instead he continued to shout and lay on his horn.
As a resident I am frustrated and disgusted at witnessing this level of disrespect towards an elderly woman.
Sadly, I have witnessed similar rudeness with drivers in Beverly Hills and I think it is time that we as a community address this issue.

Admittedly, I have seen my fare share of not-so-friendly adult drivers and passengers. A couple days before getting the above submission from Ms. Torre, I had a similar experience outside one of the hotels...getting into my car at valet and two 40-something males honking and yelling out their window at me before I even had the chance to step foot in my car. There was plenty of room to drive around me. I don't think it's fair to blame the "kids." Many kids are better behaved than some of the adults I meet. Best, Marie
