MSMLE'S Daily Gem

Take a look inside Jessica Simpson's former Beverly Hills home in today's Daily Gem.

Simpson, who welcomed the birth of her second child, Ace Knute Johnson, in June, paid $5.275 million for the ivy-clad retreat in 2005. The home came to market with a price tag of 7.9 million in May and was offered for $7.295 in August. However, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times, the Hamptons-inspired home sold for nearly $900,000 less – $6.4 million.

The actress-singer purchased the Beverly Hills estate shortly after her divorce from Nick Lachey. Prior to Simpson’s stay, the property was previously owned by a number of other noted celebrities. Ellen DeGeneres bought the home in 2001 and later sold it to Rick Yorn, manager to Leonardo Decaprio and Cameron Diaz, in 2003.

Built in 1991, the celebrity dwelling offers a total of five bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths and 5,500 square feet of living space. The interior received a number of updates at the hands of Rachel Ashwell, of Shabby Chic Couture, and features vaulted ceilings, dark hardwood floors and a beautiful country-modern kitchen. Outside, a stone courtyard sits adjacent to a tranquil koi pond and pool.

Simpson listed the Beverly Hills home shortly after shelling out $11.5 million to buy a mansion in Hidden Hills. Formerly owned by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Simpson’s new property spans nearly 11,000 square feet, with a total of six bedrooms and six bathrooms. The Osbournes paid $12.4 million for the home in 2007.
