World Champion Athlete Works Out in Beverly Hills

Kerron Clement took to the BHHS track on Saturday.

You never know who you'll bump into at the track. On Saturday, I was there for my daily workout when I saw what appeared to be Superman out of his costume, doing laps at warp speed.

It was none other than Olympic athlete and world champion hurdler Kerron Clement, who was working out somewhat casually as his good pal, , let him borrow some of the school's hurdles to use for practice. Hard to find spare hurdles on the weekend!

Clement's amazing accomplishments include a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles in both the Osaka 2007 and Berlin 2009 World Championships, and another gold in Berlin for the 4x400-meter relay. Clement will defend his 400-meter hurdle title at the upcoming World Championships in Daegu, South Korea in August.

In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he earned a silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles and took gold as a substitute for the 4x400-meter relay team. Clement also holds the indoor world record for the 400-meter sprint.

The Trinidadian-born track star is very friendly and commented on "how nice the facility is at BHHS."

Hey, if the high school's track is good enough for a world-class athlete, it's good enough for any of us. (I did notice that Clement had the discipline to walk right past the on his way out!)
