Angel Light Academy Honors Beverly Hills Doctor

Dr. Jay Calvert's Surgical Friend Foundation reaches out to those with physical deformities in the U.S. and abroad.

The fourth Annual Above and Beyond Awards Gala was held recently at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, and Dr. Jay Calvert of Beverly Hills was honored for his service to the community.

Calvert is the co-founder of the Surgical Friends Foundation.

More than 150 guests attended the event to show their support in honoring local community members who have proven excellence in community leadership and service. The nominees selected have demonstrated that they consistently go “above and beyond” and were nominated by their peers for this prestigious award.

Calvert's foundation reaches out to those with physical deformities in the U.S. and abroad, and it provides free reconstructive surgery and post-operative care to young adults living with physical deformities. They develop partnerships to help patients who live with difficult and life-threatening deformities and do not have access to medical treatment.

Calvert is also the founder and director of the Rox Center, founder of MDinsider.com and the founder of Jay Calvert, MD Professional Corporation. He strives to create a more responsive and progressive surgical experience in which patients are sure to get the best care. His example and drive has brought together like-minded physicians who demand excellence of themselves and each other. In addition, Jay is involved in community service through the Orange County Tocqueville Society of the United Way devoting time, talent and funds to help tackle the communities’ most serious issues. He is also on the board of the Children of War Foundation.

This year’s 12 honorees were from an array of service backgrounds, including banking, medical, non-profits, business, community, education, arts, golf, youth and more.

All funds raised at the event support the programs of Angel Light Academy’s Leadership Training Institute, which teaches youth and adults leadership, problem solving, and communication. To learn more about Angel Light Academy visit angellightacademy.org.
