Beverly Hills, CA (March 20, 2012) The Colleagues—one of Los Angeles’ most respected charities and their prestigious co-host, legendary fashion designer, Oscar de la Renta, will honor entertainment industry icon Sherry Lansing at the 23rd Annual Spring Luncheon benefitting Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) on Tuesday April 17th in Beverly Hills. The Colleagues Champion of Children Award will be presented to Sherry Lansing by legendary broadcast journalist and television show host, Barbara Walters.
Sherry Lansing made front-page headlines and entertainment history when in 1980 she was named president of production at 20th Century Fox, becoming the first woman studio chief in Hollywood. Throughout her career, Lansing consistently was a trailblazing pioneer and visionary leader. The impact of her glass-ceiling-shattering accomplishments still resonates in the entertainment industry today, opening doors for many women that came after her. Lansing is the also the first woman studio head to ever receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as have her hand and foot prints immortalized in the pavement at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Lansing had an untouchable track record of success as a studio head. Eighty percent of the films she released were profitable, a track record unmatched by any other long term studio management leader.
In addition to honoring Sherry Lansing, the nearly 800 guests will have the opportunity to view world-renowned fashion designer Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2012 Collection, fresh off the runways of New York and Paris Fashion Week. Luncheon co-host, Oscar de la Renta, will be joining the Colleagues this year to support their work.
Wendy Burch, an Emmy Award winning television anchor, reporter and host will be the afternoon’s Emcee. In the course of her broadcast career, she's interviewed some of the biggest newsmakers of the day. With two decades of reporting experience, Burch has delivered thousands of live television news reports: everything from breaking news to high profile court cases to star-studded red carpet events. Wendy is currently the weekend co-anchor on KTLA 5 Morning News in Los Angeles.
Chopard, Swiss-based maker of luxury watches, jewelry and accessories is a proud sponsor of the event.
