Westwood, Early Beverly Hills and Beverly Hills from the 1930's to 2005 presented by Marc Wanamaker

Please join the Friends of Greystone and Co-Chairs Jill Tavelman Collins, Roberta Haft & Kathy Melamed for the second season of our new series "Tea and Talk" featuring guest authors speaking in the wonderful setting of Greystone Mansion's spectacular Living Room. A light tea will be served with all lectures.


 


VINTAGE BEVERLY HILLS AND ITS RESIDENT STARS -- A program depicting the establishment of Beverly Hills and the resident stars that made the community famous around the world. Rare historical photographs of early Beverly Hills from 1912 showing the Beverly Hills Hotel where the first movie stars stayed before they purchased homes in Beverly Hills to the development of the residential community into a city in its own right. The first important “star home” in Beverly Hills was “Pickfair”, the home of the stars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, and their neighbor Charles Chaplin are among the many star homes from the 1920’s to the 1960’s.

Marc Wanamaker was born in Los Angeles and grew up inrWest Hollywood/Beverly Hills . He is a world-class expert and consultant in film history who has worked in many facets of film production, exhibition, and research for several decades. He holds degrees in theater arts, music and history. He has extensive administration experience with the American Film Institute and is a published historian, lecturer, and teacher who taught film history at UCLA Extension for five years.
