Walk-and-Gawk Community Walk: Fitness, Fashion and a Little Food!

Catch up with friends and neighbors at the 3rd annual Walk-and-Gawk Down Wilshire set for Wed., Dec. 26 plus get the story behind Neiman Marcus’ magnificent window displays from the store’s visual director Martin Pack.

Gather at 5:30 pm at the Beverly Canon Gardens at 225 N Canon Dr., Beverly Hills, CA adjacent to Bar Bouchon for the free 1½ hour event that is more sociable stroll than power walk. The goal is to encourage walking every day to local errands and appointments – and to promote pedestrian awareness and safety.

After Pack’s chat at 6:30 pm – and surprises from the store, the walk continues along Brighton Drive – with deli sampling from the newly opened Ferrarini Delicatessen – and then returns to the Beverly Canon Gardens.

Walkers are also encouraged to bring old sneakers that can be dropped off en route at the Niketown “Old shoes. New future.” collection box to help create playgrounds from the recycled shoes.

In its third year, Walk-and-Gawk also features the windows at Barneys New York, this year with its Electric Disney extravaganza and Disney-themed paintings by kids from Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) on display. Sales of the paintings benefit the HOLA after-school program that helps underserviced kids in downtown Los Angeles, according to Donald Ahsue, director, visual of Barneys New York.
