Week in Review: Memorial 5K, Measure J and City Sculptures

The death of a Beverly Hills High School student was commemorated and the pool of City Council candidates for the next election has grown. Read about that and more in the top stories from Dec. 2-8. 

1. More than 150 people braved the rain for the memorial 5K run/walk honoring the sixth anniversary of the death of BHHS junior Vahagn Setian, who died in a drunk driving accident.

2. Final results show that Measure J, the countywide ballot measure aimed at accelerating transit projects, fell .56 percent short of passage.

3. The city's fire station at 1100 Coldwater Canyon Drive will be shut down for a few weeks while the main sewer line is repaired.

4. City Council received an update on the annual maintenance program for the city's 18 sculptures.

5. George Vreeland Hill announced he is running for City Council in March 2013.
