Week in Review: Fresh Corn, Norman Football and Hot Dogs

It's time for the weekly roundup of what took place in Beverly Hills from Aug. 22-28. Protecting your pet from the heat, coverage of BHHS football and a few court appearances are just some of the stories covered during this seven-day stretch that saw temps hit their summer highs.

SUNDAY

The week began with a "This Day in Beverly Hills History" post in which we revisited a 1985 jewelry heist at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Next came our Rescue Dog of the Week post. We met who is recovering from painful acid burns. But this super pup doesn't let his injuries keep him down. He's as sweet and loving as ever!

MONDAY

The day kicked off with continuing coverage of the alleged scamming of celebrities by a Beverly Hills salon owner. We reported that Maria Gabriella Perez was released on bond after being charged with two counts of access device fraud.

Columnist David De Bacco brought us his weekly Fresh from the Farmers' Market piece, letting us know that the market's eggs are safe from the nationwide recall.

We followed with our first Resident Spotlight featuring a Beverly Hills teenager. Hear what Andrew Daneshgar had to say about the city.

TUESDAY

Tuesday started with an update on the death of . Not long before his Jeep rolled down an embankment on Pacific Coast Highway, Ryan tweeted a photo of his dog—who survived the accident—during a hike.

Then came an update on Lindsay Lohan, who was released from rehab and scheduled to make an appearance at the Beverly Hills Courthouse.

WEDNESDAY

Midweek began with a video about Beverly Hills Tennis at the La Cienega Tennis Center. Patch encourages residents to enjoy BHT's low rates on classes taught by tennis pros.

After that came a post giving readers tips on keeping their pets safe from heat exhaustion during the summer heat wave.

The day ended with a story and video covering Lindsay Lohan's hearing at the Beverly Hills Courthouse. 

THURSDAY

The day started with a brief on the recent Trousdale Estates slaying. Scott Joseph Barker and Chie Alexandra Coggins Johnson, who both pleaded not guilty in the death of Katsutoshi Tony Takazato, were due back in court for a preliminary hearing.

Next we featured Rhoda Sharp, a former BHUSD employee who has lived in Beverly Hills for 50 years, in a Resident Spotlight.

Then came our Green Files column in which Ellen Lutwak gave tips on reducing your carbon footprint during your day-to-day activities.

FRIDAY

The day began with a Q&A with the developers of the city's first brand name line of products, Beverly Hills Beauty.

Next came a post about the sale of an office building at 9300 Wilshire in a $15 million all-cash transaction.

Last up was a story on the Beverly Hills High School varsity football team. Patch talked to head coach Donald Paysinger about his prospects for the upcoming season.

SATURDAY

The weekend began with a brief on the BHHS freshman football team. Patch also snapped a few shots of the coaches and players at a recent practice.

After that came coverage of the summer's final "Concert on Canon" at Beverly Canon Gardens. Reggae group Urban Dread performed.
