Week in Review: BHHS Soccer Coach, Halloween Permits and Whooping Cough

School board ramps up efforts to oppose Measure J, a tax measure aimed at accelerating transit projects, including the Westside Subway Extension.

The memorial for Beverly Hills High School soccer coach Darren Davies took place and a developer was ordered to let hikers use a popular Franklin Canyon trail that crosses his property. Read about that and more in the top stories from Oct. 14-20.

1. Family, friends, students and school staff paid tribute to soccer coach Darren Davies, who died suddenly at the age of 30.

2. Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education member Lewis Hall has written an open letter in support of the "Coalition to Defeat Measure J."

3. A developer who owns land where a portion of Franklin Canyon's Hastain Trail lies has been ordered to remove all fencing and equipment from the trail so the public has full access.

4. Residents living in the area of North Santa Monica Boulevard and North Doheny Drive will receive special parking permits for Halloween night.

5. A Horace Mann student tested positive for whooping cough.
