Portion of Southbound 405 Freeway to Close Thursday Night

A section of the freeway will be closed while crews construct falsework at the Mulholland Bridge.

The southbound 405 Freeway will close overnight Thursday, from the , according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. 

Crews will be constructing falsework at the Mulholland Bridge, placing girder plates "above each bridge span and across each direction of the freeway roadway," Metro stated. Falsework is a temporary structure that supports a bridge during reconstruction.

The 405 Freeway ramps between the 101 Freeway and Getty Center Drive may close as early as 7 p.m. Thursday. Freeway lanes will begin to close as early as 10 p.m. Full closure is expected from 12-5 a.m. Friday.

According to a Metro release, Sepulveda Boulevard will be used as a detour during the closure.
