Metro: Traffic Switches, Lane Closures on Skirball Bridge This Weekend

Closures and lane shifts will take place as part of the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project.

Reconstruction work began Friday on the Skirball Bridge, prompting several changes for commuters to know about. The work is part of the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project

According to Metro, the contractor will shift traffic to the north half of the Skirball Bridge beginning on the night of Friday, July 13 and ending Sunday, July 15.

Three lanes will be maintained on the bridge during reconstruction—two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound. The bridge will be closed at night during this operation.

Only one lane will be open on the bridge during the day with a flagging operation directing traffic. The southbound Skirball on- and off-ramps will be closed throughout this operation.

Full closure is planned for Friday from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday. The lane closures with a flagging operation are planned for Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon. Closures of the southbound on- and off-ramps start Friday at 7 p.m. and end Sunday at noon.

What to Expect:

  • After traffic is switched to the north half of the bridge three lanes will be open on the bridge, two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound.
