Lindsay Lohan Begins Serving 90-Day Jail Sentence

The actress surrenders at the Beverly Hills Courthouse on Tuesday morning.

Actress Lindsay Lohan arrived at the Beverly Hills Courthouse Tuesday morning where she surrendered to begin serving a 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation stemming from two DUI arrests in 2007.

Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel also ordered Lohan, 24, to report to a 90-day inpatient substance-abuse program within 24 hours of being released from jail.

The star of such movies as Mean Girls and Freaky Friday was transported to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., to serve her sentence. The facility is the same lockup where Paris Hilton did time in 2007 for a probation violation.

On July 6, Revel ruled that Lohan violated her probation by missing multiple classes of a court-ordered alcohol-education program.

Patch reported July 6 that Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore estimated that many non-violent female inmates often serve about 25 percent of their sentence, which means Lohan's jailhouse stint may last only 23 days.
