You may have heard that Patch's parent company AOL recently acquired The Huffington Post.
The deal cost $315 million and gave Huffpo co-founder Arianna Huffington the editor in chief seat of the newly-formed Huffington Post Media Group, which will include all Huffington Post and AOL content, including Patch, Engadget, TechCrunch, Moviefone, MapQuest, Black Voices, PopEater, AOL Music, AOL Latino, AutoBlog, StyleList and more.
Huffington appeared on an episode of Real Time With Bill Maher Friday and discussed, among other things, local news reach and Patch.com. Here's what she had to say about Patch (at about the 4:35 mark of the show):
"As we're losing trust at the national level—in our politicians, in our media—this is the opportunity to really spotlight what is working in this country," Huffington said.
