Beverly Hills 1-800-GET-THIN Clinic at Risk of Losing Accreditation

The New Life Surgery Center in Beverly Hills has been told to make improvements.

A Beverly Hills outpatient clinic affiliated with the 1-800-GET-THIN Lap-Band surgery must make specified improvements or risk losing its accreditation, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Joint Commission—an organization authorized by California to accredit the state's outpatient surgery centers—found nine areas in which the New Life Surgery Center in Beverly Hills needs to make improvements, the Times reported. Areas for improvement include infection prevention, leadership and medication management.

Three patients died after Lap-Band procedures at the New Life clinic between 2009 and 2011, according to the newspaper.
