Holiday Selections from the Beverly Hills Wine Merchant

The boutique purveyor of fine wines celebrates almost five decades in the city.

The Wine Merchant has been serving up fine, fine wines for Beverly Hills residents since the 1970s.

Specializing in California, Italian and French varietals, it's a place where you can pick up a very nice Syrah for as little as $16 or a limited-release French red for as much as $1,800.

Located first at the corner of Little Santa Monica Boulevard and Roxbury Street, the store moved to N. Canon Drive seven years ago.

It is still owned by founder Dennis Overstreet, who, along with Rita Barsoumian, does much of the buying for the store.

An employee, Jason, patiently walked us through the store's expansive front room Wednesday, which includes a sale area and a number of racks.

He also helped us pick out a few few wines that might be good on an Easter or other holiday table this coming weekend.

Check out the above photo gallery to see some of those choices.

The Beverly Hills Wine Merchant is located at 228 N. Canon Drive.
