Beverly Hills Officials Head to NYC

Beverly Hills' city officials, Chamber of Commerce and Conference and Visitors Bureau join efforts in trade mission to advance city's economic landscape in The Big Apple.

Beverly Hills is conducting its annual trade mission to New York from Oct. 22 through Oct. 24.

Sponsored by the city, the Chamber of Commerce and Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the three days in New York City are filled with trade meetings and business events aimed at promoting Beverly Hills as a world-class destination and an outstanding location to do business.

The purpose of the mission is three-fold: thank the companies that have businesses in Beverly Hills and inform them of new and relevant city data; approach companies potentially interested in locating their business in Beverly Hills; and reach out to media representatives and agents from the travel industry.

Meetings are scheduled with high-level representatives from many luxury retailers and businesses including Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Van Cleef & and Arpels, Audemars Piguet, Baccarat, Burberry and Barneys New York and real estate and restaurant corporations.

In addition, receptions are scheduled for travel writers and industry professionals for both business and leisure travel.

The CVB is hosting three travel receptions while in New York, in which travel professionals and journalists meet with hotel partners and Chamber and CVB representatives. The travel media event is the official launch of Suite 100, a hotel initiative that will celebrate the City's 2014 Centennial: Five of Beverly Hills’ most luxurious hotels will redecorate one of their suites to reflect a different era during the past 100 years.

Beverly Hills exists within a very competitive regional environment for both retail shopping and tourism, and must make efforts to maintain its stature as a leader.

New York is the number one market for Beverly Hills hotels and the number two feeder market for all visitors to Beverly Hills.

Approximately 80 luxury goods retailers, restaurants and hotels with a presence in Beverly Hills are either based in New York City or have their U.S. corporate headquarters there. During the trade mission, the city and the Beverly Hills business community create a dialogue directly with the decision makers in order to attract and maintain relationships with retailers that are beneficial to Beverly Hills.

According to city officials, it's very important for these corporations to know that the City of Beverly Hills and the business community work together to achieve a dynamic and supportive business environment.

With more than two-thirds of the Beverly Hills' general fund coming from business activity, working to foster and grow this key economic base is integral to maintaining the high level of city services.

Officials traveling to New York from the business community include President of the Chamber Board of Directors John Bendheim, Chamber Executive Director Alex Stettinski, Chamber Director of Economic Development Andy Sywak, CVB Executive Director Julie Wagner, CVB Director of Business Development Mary De Hoyos, CVB Communications Manager Karissa Fowler, the general managers from many of the City’s hotels and other business leaders. Delegates from the City of Beverly Hills include Mayor John Mirisch, Vice Mayor Lili Bosse, City Manager Jeff Kolin, Deputy City Manager Cheryl Friedling and Director of Marketing and Economic Sustainability Megan Roach.
