Local REALTORS® Lobby State Lawmakers

More than two dozen members of the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS® met with state legislators and their staffs April 30th, as part of the annual California Association of REALTORS® Legislative day meetings in Sacramento, CA.

 

More than 2,000 REALTORS® from across the state descended on the state capitol to learn about, discuss, and lobby on a variety of legislation that affects real estate, homebuyers, and home-sellers across California.

Legislative Day was kicked off by a speech by California Governor Jerry Brown and California’s 29th District Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff.  California Association of REALTORS® Chief Executive Officer Joel Singer also provided his insight about today’s top industry issues including how affordability, new construction, and the role of first-time home buyers will impact the future of housing.

Immediately after the morning briefing, the local delegation REALTORS® met with 11 state legislators of their staff from districts represented by the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS®. These legislators’ offices  included State Senator Kevin De Leon, State Senator Holly Mitchell, State Senator Ted Lieu, Assembly member Mike Gatto, Assembly member Adrin Nazarian, Assembly member Richard Bloom, Assembly member Jimmy Gomez, Speaker of the Assembly John Perez, Assembly member Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, Assembly member Reggie Jones-Sawyer, and Assembly member Steven Bradford.

 

Members of the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS® delegation included Debora Bright-Laney, President; Diane Manns, President-Elect; Martin Geimer, Past-President; and Irma Vargas, Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee. Other members of the delegation included Ben Eubanks, Kimberlee Foley, Patricia Heller, Taunee English, Isaac Begin, and Richard Kissel.
