BHFD's Quick Response Saves a Life

Read about how Beverly Hills firefighters rescued a woman who was unconscious from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Nikkie Sedaghat almost died from carbon monoxide poisoning. When she was found unconscious, a call was put in to the . The following account was written by her:

Last year on Nov. 25, 2010, I came home from college for the Thanksgiving weekend. After Thanksgiving dinner, I asked my mother to turn on the heater in the back house, so I wouldn’t be cold while I was sleeping.

We had plans to go shopping for Black Friday in the morning at 9 a.m., but unfortunately I never woke up. When my mother came in to check on me, she realized I was unconscious. The heater was releasing carbon monoxide while I was asleep. She immediately called 911, and as she was on the phone with them, she said she could already hear the fire trucks coming to my rescue.

Several fire trucks came, as carbon monoxide poisoning is not very common and is taken very seriously.
