Shelle's new show, Noiritage, delves into the themes of famililial history, loyalty and noir tinged aesthetics. The show features 12 mixed media pieces; employing antique text, leather, stingray skin, skulls and lace. Each material used was carefully selected; the antique text comes from German books concerning the philosophy of aesthetics and family, the ...leathers and bone are memento mori and the lace alludes to the widow’s veil of yore.

This show’s artwork explores the ties that bind and define you; both positive as well as dark and negative. Several pieces explore the relationship of our second, chosen family: our friends. The comfort they can provide but also the pain and jealousy they can cause. Almost all the pieces contain an undercurrent of her German heritage in the form of the German text backing them. The show also features several clever pieces containing German words that are commonly used in English such as Doppelganger and Schadenfreude. Although the works range from witty to more somber, every piece offers an interesting and unique perspective.
