CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS PRESENTS DAN BURSTEIN

Author Dan Burstein discusses his book, The Tattooed Girl: The Enigma of Stieg Larsson and the Secrets behind the Most Compelling Thrillers of Our Time just as we get ready for the holiday season premiere of the David Fincher-directed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie, starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

Burstein’s book, co-written with his colleagues Arne de Keijzer and John-Henri Holmberg (Holmberg was a lifelong friend of Larsson’s), is the most authoritative literary, political, and sociological guidebook to what have been rightly called “the hottest books on the planet”– The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. From Larsson’s commitment to his own version of feminism, to his concerns with neo-Nazi movements in Scandinavia, to the mystery of whether or not a “fourth book” manuscript exists, to the tragedy of his death and the treatment of his life partner, Eva Gabrielsson, Burstein’s talk take you right into the streets of Stockholm and the unique world of Stieg Larsson’s characters--Lisbeth Salander, Mikael Blomkvist--and Larsson himself, providing a fascinating view of the author’s life story, his inspirations, and his dystopian views of Swedish society.
