Students practice and polish their field shows to get ready for the Normans' home football games.
Members of the marching band are getting a jump on the upcoming football season this week at band camp, where they learn the music and moves for their halftime performances.
“This week of camp is very important, much like the football team and all the practices and workouts they have to prepare for the season,” said Bill Bradbury, the BHHS instrumental music director. “For us, it’s learning the music, getting our freshmen and new people up to speed on marching techniques, and working on our field show.”
The camp runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22-26 on the high school grounds. Band members have music rehearsal inside the band room and then head over to Nickoll Field for marching practice.

Jenny Partiza, 17, a senior flutist, is looking forward to playing with the band at this season’s home football games.
“We’re learning how to march and getting accustomed to what we will be doing on the field this fall,” Partiza said. “During marching season we play at the games and it’s such a fun atmosphere. We play as loud as we can just to get everyone hyped up.”
