Here are some of the stories that topped Westside Patch sites this past week.

Close out your weekend with a recap of the newsiest and most popular Patch articles from last week. Here are the five stories that topped the headlines on Westside Patch sites: 

Shooting in Pacific Palisades: According to police, a man shot his caregiver several times before fatally shooting himself on Tuesday morning. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was hospitalized in critical condition.

"The body found Wednesday was my only son, Randall"
: Venice Patch received a letter from Chuck Hedin, the father of a young man whose body was discovered earlier in the week. In the short letter, Mr. Hedin offers some insight into his son's life.

Grumpy Cat Visits Santa Monica, Hates It: The e-famous feline with the perpetually unhappy visage visited Kitson boutique to promote her new book, Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book. There were hundreds of fans, a limo and a red carpet for the festivities.

Norm's Leaves Santa Monica: The popular chain shut down in SaMo after 49 years in the community. Texas-based developers Fstar 1601 purchased Norms last year for $13.5 million, according to public records. Mixed use housing and retail development will replace the 49-year-old restaurant at 1601 Lincoln Blvd. 

Family Wants Documentary on PCH Safety: The family of Emily Shane, a teen girl who was killed when she was struck by a driver on Pacific Coast Highway, has started a Kickstarter campaign to make a documentary about the highway. The hope from the family is that the documentary will educate people about the dangers of the road.
