PHOTOS: They Were Dancing in the Streets, But Mostly Eating Cake

Twenty-seven photos, to be exact.

"Happy Birthday, Beverly Hills," shouted Mayor Lili Bosse.

And indeed it was, with thousands flocking to the block party on Rodeo Drive to eat, dance, play, catch Martha Reeves singing "Dancing in the Streets," but mostly to eat ... cake.

Ah, the cake. It as every bit as spectacular as advertised: 10-feet tall, 15-feet wide, 20-feet long and weighing nearly 4,000 pounds, according to the Rodeo Drive Committee, which is organizing the event -- enough to feed 15,000. The Los Angeles Times said it had a $200,000 price tag.

Made with Guittard chocolate, it was moist and rich. With iconic scenes of Beverly Hills, complete with City Hall, palm trees and shopping bags, it was every bit worth the wait and arguably, the price.
