Now This Is How You Celebrate 100 Years of Cityhood

They’ll at least be singing in the street, but we wouldn’t be surprised if there will be dancing as well.

Martha Reeves, of “Dancing in the Street” fame, will be singing her trademark song in one of the most famous streets in all the world, Rodeo Drive.

It’s all part of Beverly Hills’ centennial celebration, which on April 27 will also feature carnival rides, including two Ferris wheels, a birthday cake that will offer 15,000 slices to residents and visitors, according to an announcement made today.

That’s if they have any room left after getting a “Taste of Beverly Hills” at a food festival which will include samples from some of the city’s most recognized restaurants.

It all happens 3:30-8 pm. April 27, spanning the 200, 300, and 400 blocks of Rodeo Drive., according to a news release from the Rodeo Drive Committee, which is organizing the event, along with the City of Beverly Hills.

And here’s more on that cake: Presented by the Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive and Guittard Chocolate Company’s corporate executive pastry chef, Donald Wressell, it will stand 10-feet high, 15-feet wide, 20-feet long and will weigh approximately 4,000 pounds. It will depict the iconic Beverly Hills City Hall tower and Rodeo Drive, of course.
