Beverly Hills Tweens, Teens Celebrated for Summer Reading

More than 500 Beverly Hills tweens and teens read at least eight books this summer with the library's book club.

Tweens and teenagers in Beverly Hills continued building upon the reading ambitions of their younger counterparts this summer and were recognized Tuesday night by the City Council for participating in the library's summer reading club.

Mayor John Mirisch and Library Services Manager Marilyn Taniguchi had dozens of local tweens (between fourth and sixth grades) and teens up in front of the council to be recognized for their 50 percent rate of completion and reading at least eight books this summer.

Taniguchi said there were approximately 286 tweens and 290 teens who excelled at that rate and more than 1,000 participated in the reading club as a whole.
