ZocDoc.com, an online appointment booking service, launches in Beverly Hills and other parts of the Los Angeles area today.
Similar to the popular OpenTable service used for finding restaurants, ZocDoc allow patients to book appointments with local physicians quickly—often for same-day appointments. Best of all, the service is offered at no charge to patients.
Each patient can type in his or her ZIP code, health insurance provider (if any) and the medical provider needed. ZocDoc then shows the profiles and live schedules of available doctors using the service; the patient chooses a time that works best, and can book an appointment instantly.
ZocDoc is successful in New York City, Washington, D.C., Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago and San Francisco already. There are more than 100,000 available appointments through ZocDoc in the Los Angeles area.
