Beverly Hills Little League's 9/10 year-old softball All-Star team capped an improbable five-day tournament run with a 9-8 nine-inning win over West LA in last night's decisive championship game to win the District 25 title. BH needed three straight wins facing elimination to capture the tournament, including two in a row against prohibitive favorite West LA. After a 7-3 BH win on Tuesday, the winner-take-all finale was set. BH led 7-6 going into the sixth and final inning, but West LA scored twice to take an 8-7 lead entering the home half of the sixth. With two outs, Dorrit Corwin knocked in Skye Hambrick to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Lauren Witmer shut the door on West LA from there, throwing three shutout innings. BH won it in the bottom of the ninth when Ellie Johnston singled to score Dorrit Corwin with the winning run.
BH advances to the Section 4 tournament where it will face Westchester Del Rey Little League, July 7-9.
