Blog: Jack Black Performs at Lebowski Fest in Beverly Hills

Lebowski Fest, the multi-city festival celebrating the film The Big Lebowski, came to Southern California this weekend. However, "Lebowski Fest Los Angeles" (the self-applied handle) was not actually located in the City of Angels this year. Rather, Friday night's movie screening party was held in Beverly Hills' Saban Theatre, and Saturday's bowling party was at Fountain Bowl in Orange County. Both nights featured partygoers dressed up like their favorite characters and drinking White Russians, the signature drink of "The Dude" - Jeff Bridges' character from the 1998 Coen Brothers film which has now reached epic cult status.

Aside from the movie screening, Friday night's festivities at Beverly Hills' Saban included appearances from many of the movie's supporting cast, including Leon Russom ("Sheriff of Malibu"), Phillip Moon ("Woo the Carpet Pisser"), and Jack Kehler ("Marty the Landlord"). The Kyle Gass Band kicked off the night with each of the band members dressed as a different character from the movie. Fans of the movie - known affectionately as "Achievers" - danced and sang along as the band played a medley of songs from The Big Lebowski soundtrack. When the band began playing the ZZ Top version of  "Viva Las Vegas" a familiar voice resonated from the back of the theater. Reuniting with Kyle Gass and the band (together known as "Tenacious D") and dressed in a full red-white-and-blue Elvis jumpsuit, actor/musician Jack Black made his way to the stage and tore the roof off with his vocal talents and comedic antics.

Movie trivia: The title characters mansion supposedly set in Pasadena was actually Beverly Hills' Greystone Mansion.
