Wine and Beer at Starbucks?
The coffee company is bringing wine, beer and premium foods to some select SoCal locations by the end of 2012.
With five Starbucks Coffee locations in Beverly Hills, it’s safe to say that many residents visit the popular chain.
But soon, your local Starbucks may offer more than coffee, lattes, sweets and sandwiches.
The company began serving wine, beer and premium foods during the evening at some of its Pacific Northwest stores starting in October 2010. Now a handful of SoCal Starbucks will begin offering wine, beer, savory snacks, small plates and hot flatbreads by the end of the year, the coffee giant announced last week. The next locations with the expanded menu have yet to be announced.
"As our customers transition from work to home, many are looking for a warm and inviting place to unwind and connect with the people they care about," Starbucks Senior Vice President for U.S. Operations Clarice Turner said. "At select stores where it is relevant for the neighborhood, we are focused on creating an atmosphere where our customers can relax with a friend, a small bite to eat and a cup of coffee or glass of wine."
In addition to the wine, beer and stepped-up food offerings, some stores plan to also have "flexible seating" to accommodate individuals and small groups, as well as larger parties.
Beverly Hills Starbucks are located at 428 N. Beverly Drive, 9844 Wilshire Blvd., 257 S. La Cienega Blvd., 9045 W. Olympic Blvd. and 202 S. Beverly Drive.

Cannabis
- only ONE of these lacks the ability to kill. With alcohol causing 75,000 unnecessary deaths each year and multiple adverse health consequences, including cirrhosis of the liver, cancers, unintentional injuries, and violence, it's time we acted to prevent much of this misery by giving alcohol consumers the right to use cannabis as a substitute for alcohol.
States that have passed medical cannabis laws have seen a 9% drop in alcohol-related traffic fatalities because people in those states are using cannabis to help them consume less alcohol. We could save the lives of *many* more good, hardworking people by giving ALL people the right to substitute cannabis for alcohol.
Cannabis has repeatedly been proven to NOT cause cancer, heart disease, brain damage, liver disease, emphysema, or any other significant health issue, and its addiction potential is about on par with coffee - which makes it far safer than alcohol and an excellent tool to use to consume less alcohol and prevent much unnecessary harm.

If they choose to serve beer and wine in Beverly Hills, I hope they start serving it in one Starbucks only to see how it goes.
Somehow, I think it would change the atmosphere of Starbucks.
I like it the way it is.
