The Beverly Hills artSHOW

"The Affaire in the Gardens" is being revamped with more daring art.

The Beverly Hills Art Show returns this weekend, featuring more than 250 artists presenting their work in booths set up at .

Formerly known as "The Affaire in the Gardens," the biannual art show is held every spring and fall. It is one of the city's most popular public attractions and has been taking place for almost 40 years.

This year's event will brand itself with a new artSHOW logo, created by award-winning graphic artist Victoria Arriola, who has also designed for companies such as Apple and Disney.

"It was time to put 'art' in the name of the show and really let the whole public know exactly what we're about," said coordinator Karen McLean, who has been involved with the event for the past 12 years. "We're about art."

McLean said the show has evolved and that the work featured has "become more daring."

"Performance artist Steven Fujimoto, who was one of the builders of the Occupy the Rose Bowl Octopus float, will be installing a politically-charged piece which refers pretty obviously to the nation's mortgage crisis," she said. "We have artists at the other extreme whose art subtly refers to their belief in the Old Testament and Genesis."

She added that the event has also started to feature installation artists with the support of the Los Angeles Art Association.

L.A. artist Brooke Harker will be at Booth #358. She recently completed her latest series, “Cityscapes,” which shares impressions of urban scenery.

"My paintings are inspired by different time periods in my life. Being witnesses to the experiences that shape me, strokes and images are like journal entries," Harker said. "Some are made in an hour, while other paintings compile pieces over years."

Lincoln automobiles is a participating sponsor of the show and will have cars on hand for attendees to test drive. With each test drive, Lincoln will donate $10 to the Children's Hospital/HARK and give the driver a $15 gift card to the Wine and Dine Garden.

General show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the historic Beverly Gardens Park, along the north side of Santa Monica Boulevard, from Rodeo to Rexford drives. Admission is free. Parking is available in various city lots on the south side of Santa Monica Boulevard. For more information, click here
