Ron Paul Portrait Appears on Rodeo Drive

Street art featuring the GOP presidential contender has been sighted in Beverly Hills.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has made a surprise appearance in Beverly Hills—as a piece of art.

A colorful pop-art portrait of the GOP nominee hopeful appeared on North Rodeo Drive and Dayton Way, affixed to the base of the Robert Graham sculpture Torso. The screen-print style painting also includes a card that attributes the painting to “Urbin Alchemist,” with the title Consistency.

Sighted late Monday morning, the street art is likely not a sanctioned piece approved by the city’s Fine Art Commission. Patch is looking into the origins of the group or individual who may take credit for the painting.

This is not the first time that street art has appeared in Beverly Hills. Two pieces by Los Angeles-based artist Becca can be found in an alley off Brighton Way. Her work was featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art’s “Art in the Street” 2011 exhibit. Graffiti attributed to stealth British artist Banksy also appeared in February 2011 on a building wall on Little Santa Monica Boulevard near Moreno Drive.
