Residents Start Petition to Prevent Subway Tunneling Under BHHS

The petition "No Subway Under Beverly Hills High School" has almost 600 signatures.

Beverly Hills residents are signing a petition that seeks to prevent the Metropolitan Transportation Authority from routing the under Beverly Hills High School. 

"The safety of our students is at stake," the petition reads. "Nowhere else in California does a subway run directly under permanent school buildings and while Metro has other options, our high school has nowhere else to go."

The petition has gotten almost 600 signatures in about a week. It is written to members of the Metro Board of Directors:

The next Metro meeting is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 18. Metro’s six-person committee will review the final EIR and make recommendations. A 20-seat shuttle will depart from Kelly’s Coffee and Fudge at 444 N. Rexford Drive. Come to the coffee shop by noon to secure a seat.
