'No Subway Under BHHS' Video Hits 3,000 Views

Beverly Hills PTAs paid for the video as part of their fight against routing the Westside Subway Extension under the city's high school.

A video titled No Subway Under BHHS has almost 3,100 views on YouTube as of early Monday. 

The video was paid for by Beverly Hills Unified School District Parent-Teacher Associations in an effort to from tunneling under as part of the Westside Subway Extension. It depicts a worst-case scenario for BHHS—which —if a subway tunnel is built below the facility. 

"Methane gas, toxic chemicals and teenagers don't mix," the narrator says. "But this dangerous combination is on the verge of exploding at Beverly Hills High, turning the school into a mega-disaster."

The video says that while the Beverly Hills City Council backs the Westside Subway Extension, an , it does not support routing the subway under BHHS to in Century City.

Beverly Hills Vice Mayor John Mirisch, BHUSD Superintendent Gary Woods, a transit and school engineer, and a methane mitigation expert are featured in the video.

"The Westside subway should serve the needs of the entire community and where children are concerned, safety is the community's number one priority," Mirisch says in the video.

At the end of the video, viewers are asked to sign a petition to from going under BHHS.
