Metro Sets More Subway Advisory Group Meetings

The Beverly Hills meeting is scheduled for April 26 at the public library.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has scheduled another round of Station Advisory Group meetings for the Westside Subway Extension that will take place April 26 through May 2.

Metro is currently conducting its final environmental impact statement and report. Public input is sought on potential designs and features for the proposed subway stations, including the Century City stop.

Each advisory group consists of about 8-15 individuals who are representative of the residents, businesses, property owners and key institutions around each proposed subway station. Those who serve were either suggested directly by local elected officials, or work with area organizations suggested by those officials. Beverly Hills staff has also been invited to attend the meetings, listen to group discussions and answer questions.

Conducted somewhat differently than Metro’s community update meetings, advisory group meetings function as roundtable discussions during which members engage with each other and Metro planners on issues specific to the design of each station and the area surrounding it. Each meeting will begin with a brief presentation, then the individual station groups will break into separate sessions to discuss their specific station. The meetings will occur at the following locations:

  • The La Cienega and Rodeo group will meet Tuesday, April 26, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Beverly Hills Library Auditorium, 444 N. Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.
  • The Century City and Westwood/UCLA meeting will take place Wednesday, April 27, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Westwood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 10497 Wilshire Blvd.
  • The La Brea and Fairfax station area advisory groups will meet Monday, May 2, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at LACMA West Terrace Room, 5905 Wilshire Blvd.

Metro held a community meeting at the Roxbury Park Community Center in March. Beverly Hills public officials and residents continue to for the Century City subway stop while those who live outside the city tend to favor a route that would travel under Beverly Hills High School and residential homes.
