City Council to Discuss Subway Route Review Today

The city hired geotechnical consultants Shannon & Wilson, Inc. to review Metro's studies of the route. The firm will present their review at a 2:30 p.m. study session.

The City Council will hold a public study session Tuesday afternoon to discuss an independent review of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Century City Area fault investigation and tunneling safety reports. Metro announced last month that it is , a decision .

Geotechnical consultants Shannon & Wilson, Inc. will present their review at the 2:30 pm study session, which will take place at City Hall. The city commissioned Shannon & Wilson to provide a peer review of Metro’s fault and tunnel reports to “address the selection of the Century City area station location.”

Members of the public are invited to attend the study session, which will be broadcast live on Beverly Hills TV 10. Residents are also invited to speak during the public comment period at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 7 p.m. For more information about the council agendas click here.

Also, the city of Beverly Hills has announced further details about plans to offer transportation to two Metro meetings being later this month at its downtown headquarters. Metro’s Board of Directors will discuss the Westside Subway Extension route at both meetings.

On April 18, Metro’s Planning and Programming Committee Meeting is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. to review the subway’s Final Environmental Impact Report/Statement and make recommendations. A 20-seat shuttle will depart from Kelly’s Coffee and Fudge on Rexford Drive at 11:30 a.m.

On April 26, the full Metro board will meet at 9 a.m. to review and discuss the FEIS/R and consider recommendations for the Westside Subway Extension. A final vote is possible at this meeting. A 47-seat bus will depart from Kelly’s Coffee and Fudge at 7:30 a.m.
