Beverly Hills High Improving as Place for College Prep

The Post's annual High School Challenge Index shows the legendary academy climbing in its annual ranking of high schools.

Beverly Hills High School showed significant improvement as a place for college preparatory work, according to rankings released recently by the Washington Post. 

The school moved from 95th in 2012 to 70th in 2013 in California, according to the Post's High School Challenge Index. Beverly Hills also moved from 743 to 617 in the national rankings.

To grade the schools, the Washington Post divided the number of college preparation tests that students took by the number of graduating seniors.

Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests were all tallied. Schools with a score above 1.0 made the state and national lists of commended schools. 

The raw number for Beverly Hills was 2.601 in 2013.
